Is my Firebase app secure?

Firebase has no server to protect you: the security rules are the whole access-control layer. The most common AI-generated rule is allow read, write: if true, written to stop a permission error during development and never revisited.

What Firebase usually leaves open

Typical stack: Firestore or Realtime Database, Authentication, Storage and Hosting; security rules decide who reads what.

How to fix it in Firebase

Run the scan, then paste this into Firebase together with the Kavach report. It tells the assistant exactly what to do and what not to touch.

Paste into Firebase
Fix my Firebase security before launch. 1) Rewrite every rule that says if true: require request.auth != null and ownership checks (request.auth.uid == resource.data.owner); show the full rules file. 2) Lock Storage rules the same way. 3) Confirm that nothing but the public Firebase config is in the client bundle. 4) Add security headers in firebase.json. Explain each rule in plain English.

Re-scan when it is done. The grade and the findings list show whether the change took, and monitoring tells you if a later prompt reopens anything.

Questions about Firebase security

Is the Firebase config in my JavaScript a leak?

No. The apiKey and projectId in the Firebase config are public identifiers. Your security rules are what matter, and Kavach reads them from the archive you upload.

Why does Kavach flag if true?

Because it grants the operation to everyone on the internet. Even if true for reads alone exposes all your documents to anyone with the project ID.

Does Kavach test my rules against my live database?

No. It analyses the rules files statically and the hosted site externally. It never signs in or writes to your project.

Can I get a second opinion on a flagged rule?

Yes. Each finding has Ask Kavach AI, which explains whether the rule looks dangerous in context and drafts the corrected rule.
